Michaela Lubbers

IPM & Sustainability Communications Specialist

Michaela joined the Center for Invasive Species & Ecosystem Health as a student worker in 2016. After completing her degree, she moved into the role of IPM & Sustainability Communications Specialist. In this role, she primarily designs and manages websites for partner organizations, serves as the first point of contact for troubleshooting with the EDDMapS system, and helps coordinate Cooperative Extension outreach and programming. Michaela is enthusiastic about useful, usable science and sees Bugwood as a leader in this endeavor.

She is also pursuing a graduate degree in Sustainable Agriculture, through the Department of Crop & Soil Sciences at UGA. Continuing to work in the intersection of agriculture and natural resources, technology, and people, her research focus is on co-developing a participatory design process for farmer decision support tools (DSTs). Her goal is to ensure that farmer needs and wants are met with these tools.
