In 2026, Bugwood, UGA’s Center for Invasive Species and Ecosystem Health, celebrates 30 years! As part of the anniversary, Bugwood is hosting the Bugwood Summit. This event will highlight recent enhancements across Bugwood Tools, including Bugwood Images, EDDMapS, Wild Spotter, and the Connect platform. Real-world examples of “Bugwood Tools in Action” will allow attendees to see how these resources can be integrated into their programs to support their work.
30 Years of Bugwood
Founded in 1996 with early CD-ROM projects, Bugwood has evolved into a network of tools and image resources. Today, Bugwood hosts more than 330,000 images contributed by thousands of photographers, while EDDMapS supports invasive species tracking with more than 9 million verifier reports.
